"One of the dynamic structures of Turkish society today, as can be observed, is the fact that tribe-clan structures and their perception as Zaza-Kurdish are. This formation is brought to the agenda in the Parliament, communication organs and academic circles on every occasion, and by creating a one-way conditioning and image, the truth is excluded. As JJ Rousseau stated, our research once again reveals the fact that 'Even though we are all different from each other like musical notes, we are still for each other'".
-Orhan Turkdogan-
Zazas and Kurds in Turkish Society is a field research based on long-term participatory observation and interview techniques and on-site research methods. In this study, which is also the first in its field, Türkdogan sheds light on the ethnic-cultural structures in our Eastern and Southeastern regions where ethnic consciousness has gained momentum today. He creates a remarkable picture by going beyond the stereotyped discourses on the language and origins of Zazas and Kurds. In this picture, which is based on two main columns, Zazas and Kurds; it is seen that the belief systems of both groups are heading towards a separation in the style of Alevi and Sunni. Therefore, the first step to be taken for the social diagnosis and treatment to be carried out is to determine the identities of these ethnic groups and the work aims to achieve this goal.
Emphasizing that ethnic differences should be channeled towards an integration based on the concept of nationhood, Türkdogan also offers suggestions and solutions in the work regarding what can be done for the development of the region and its problems.
